Things are getting really cool! I finish my last normal rehab session this week and then I get to go into the swimming pool. How great is that? A real swimming pool, with tons of water and ramps and toys and… man, oh, man… I’m so excited it takes my breath away!
Knee Surgery Saga
End of Week 8
Yes! Christmas Eve!!!!!! I did almost a half an hour this morning in the water treadmill then went for my eight week checkup at the surgeon’s. ALL IS GOOD!!!!!! Now it’s just building strength with a lot of walks. I can even climb stairs now, so Mom and Dad don’t have to take turns sleeping on the couch next to my bed anymore. Yay!!!!! Moved the gated condo upstairs!!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody.
End of Week 4
Cool! Dad and I are taking five minute walks several times a day now. It’s really nice to get out of my little “gated condo!” I started working with Kristyn, a really nice rehab lady. She showed Mom and Dad some excercises and I even got to get into a water treadmill for a couple of minutes. Dad has a picture on his old, phone. Doh… didn’t move it when he got his new one. We had a really nice Turkey Day!
End of Week 2
Man, oh, man. Got the infection cleared up, only to get hit with another challenge. One of the other medicines I’m taking is causing a little bit of internal bleeding. You can bet we’re stopping that sucker. The downside is that now I have to take a pukey slurry stuff three times a day… Paw down throat… Blechhhhh!
End of Week 1
Getting a little stronger each day as the new antibiotics work on the infection. The medicine I have to take isn’t too bad, but the pills are huge. Mom and Dad were really smart, though… They got some Pill Pockets® to make it a lot easier to take big pills and to sometimes take three pills at a time. I’m still not drinking much water, though.
Here We Go Day 2
Day 2 at home was mostly getting used to everything. Poor Mom and Dad. They had to fill out this big log sheet for EVERYTHING! I mean they left no activity in my day unrecorded. None!
When did I eat, when did I get medicine and how much, then the sort of private stuff…

Coming Home Day 1

Just a little tired
Coming home day. Really tired and a little bit sore. Not too sore, though, because of the medications I had at the vet’s. Mom and Dad went out and got me a new shiny fence around my bed so I could feel safe while I adjusted to being back home. The white fleecy thing with the blue handles on it is called a sling. It’s so Mom and Dad can lift up my back end when I walk so I don’t put any weight on my knee.
Don’t worry, kids, I’m not as sad as I look in this picture. Just a little tired. When you have an operation, you need a lot of sleep to heal. And I sleep most of the time even when I’m not healing from anything. I just like to sleep. Eating is better, but sleeping is a very close second place.
